CANMORE, AB – The Canmore Eagles are proud to announce that brothers Colton and Alex Young have committed to attend and play for the NCAA Division I Colgate University Raiders (ECAC). Colton will join the program next season (2019-20), while Alex will join his older brother the following season (2020-21).
Colton Young, 20, was a high-end recruit out of Midget AAA. The Calgary Royal minor hockey product joined the Eagles as an affiliate player in the 2015-16 season, before making the jump with the team the following year. Colton, this season’s Team Captain, has suited up for 131 games with the Eagles and his career totals so far are 38 goals and 74 assists for 112 points. Last season, Colton finished 9th in the AJHL scoring race with 67 points and this season, he is currently tied for 6th with 20 points in 12 games.
Alex Young, 17, joined his older brother with the Eagles last season and as a 16-year-old, he had an impressive rookie season with 21 goals and 29 assists for 50 points in 60 games. He won the team’s hardware for Rookie of the Year. This season, Alex is off to a good start as he is tied for most goals on the team at 10 and he also has 17 points in 15 games.

We look forward to continuing to work with both Colton and Alex as we help them prepare for the next stage in their careers,” said Eagles coach and general manager, Andrew Milne.
The Colgate University Raiders compete in the Eastern College Athletic Conference. In their existence, Colgate has made it to the NCAA Tournament five times, including one appearance to the Frozen Four in 1990. They have also won three Conference Regular Season Championships and one Conference Tournament Championship.
With the Young brothers’ commitments, the Eagles now have three players on the roster with NCAA commitments. Sophomore and 19-year-old forward, Quinton Ong, is committed to Yale University for next season. Yale also competes in the ECAC.
