The Lloydminster Bobcats are thrilled to announce 20-year-old goaltender Kaiden Kirkwood has committed to the University of Dalhousie Tigers – USports for next season!
Kirkwood has appeared in 35 games this season posting 2.78 goals against average and a .916 save percentage with a record of 17-14-3.
Kirkwood commented on his commitment, “I’m super grateful to have the opportunity to join the University of Dalhousie to further both my hockey and academic journey. I’ve heard nothing but great things about the school and culture they are building in Halifax, and I am excited to help the team have success starting next season.”
“We are thrilled for the Kaiden and the Kirkwood family on his commitment to Dalhousie. Re-acquiring Kaiden this off season has helped our program with his experience and commitment to the game, he has stuck to the process and worked very hard for everything he gets, he embodies what it means to be a Bobcat on the ice and a true role model in the community,” stated Bobcats General Manager Nigel Dube.
Kirkwood will join a long list of alumni in goaltenders who have developed in the Border City before moving on to post-secondary hockey. “We are fortunate to have our Goalie Coach in Sheldon Goertzen, he’s been with us for 6 seasons and develops top talent in the crease every year! Kaiden is another product of getting the most out of our players,” added Dube.
