Acheson Commits to Bemidji State

(Spruce Grove, AB)  – Spruce Grove Saints General Manager Rob Sklaruk announced today third year defenceman and Saints captain Logan Acheson has committed to the Bemidji State Beavers (CCHA) who compete in the NCAA’s Men’s Hockey Division I.

Acheson has already set career highs in goals (12), assists (19) and points (31) this season in 43 games played. The Edmonton, Alberta native is currently ranked 3rd in the Alberta Junior Hockey League in defensemen goal scoring and is also in top 10 in points by a defensemen.

Saints General Manager Rob Sklaruk is happy to see his captain secure a well deserved scholarship and says, “Logan has been a leader for the Spruce Grove Saints, both on and off the ice. He’s a tremendous teammate and has done everything the organization has asked of him. We are extremely proud of Logan with his commitment to Bemidji State, who is getting more then just a good hockey player, they are getting a great person.”

The 5’10″, 178-pound left shooting rearguard has committed to Bemidji State for the upcoming 2022-2023 season.

Saints Head Coach Bram Stephen was thrilled upon hearing the news of Acheson’s commitment and says, “We are incredibly happy for Logan on his commitment to Bemidji State. He is the epitome of what it means to be a great Saint. Logan is a fantastic person and we look forward to proudly following his career as it moves on to Bemidji.”

Acheson spoke of making the decision to commit to the Beavers saying, “I’m really excited to announce my commitment to Bemidji State University and I can’t wait to begin playing for such a historic program.   Throughout the past few years, the Spruce Grove Saints have been instrumental in my development as a player and a person. I would like to thank my family, teammates and all my coaches who have helped me reach this goal.”

Acheson joins Luigi Benincasa (Ferris State), Niko Jovanovic (Notre Dame), Liam Watkins (Nebraska-Omaha), Brett Pfoh (Bowling Green), Breck Mckinley (Bowling Green) as committed players to NCAA Division I programs.
