Alex Roberts Commits to Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT)

Brooks, Alberta – The Brooks Bandits are proud to announce that 1994 born Forward Alex Roberts has committed to play for RIT.  Located in Rochester, NY the “Tigers” play in the Atlantic Hockey Association under Head Coach Wayne Wilson.  RIT has enjoyed success at the NCAA Tournament with a 3rd place finish in 2010.  Opening this season, RIT boasts the brand new Gene Polisseni Center, a 4300-seat arena on campus.  Roberts is the second Bandits to decide on RIT this season joining Mark Logan as future Tigers.

Alex is from Burnaby, BC and grew up playing for Burnaby minor hockey before joining the Vancouver Northwest Giants where he was part of the Provincial Champions and advanced to play in the Telus Cup National Championship.  Roberts spent a season with the Grandview Steelers in the PJHL before joining the Bandits.  Now in his third season, Roberts leads the Bandits in goal scoring with 17 and has become an integral part of the Bandits attack.  He was part of the 2013 RBC Cup Championship team and has continued to gain a larger role each season.

Head Coach/GM Ryan Papaioannou – “Alex has become a key player for us in all situations and has shown steady improvement over the last three years while changing his approach to the game.  His production this year is something to be proud of and this opportunity at RIT is a sign of his hard working paying off.  It’s exciting for him to join a program where not only a teammate but also a line mate has chosen to play.  I have no doubts that he will continue to have a great final season with us in preparation for the NCAA.”

The Bandits Organization would like to congratulate Alex and his Family on his athletic and academic future.
