The Canmore Eagles are proud to announce that goaltender Alex Scheiwiller has committed to the University of North Dakota, where he will continue both his academic and athletic career while competing for the Fighting Hawks at the NCAA Division I level in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC).

One of the premier collegiate hockey programs in North America, North Dakota has established a reputation for developing elite players and competing annually for national championships. The Fighting Hawks have produced countless NHL players and continue to set the standard for excellence in NCAA hockey.

Scheiwiller earned this opportunity following a remarkable career with the Eagles, highlighted by one of the finest seasons by a goaltender in franchise history. His consistency, composure, and elite work ethic played a pivotal role in the Eagles’ historic success, helping lead the club to its first-ever AJHL Championship and a berth at the Centennial Cup National Championship. Along the way, he was recognized as the AJHL’s Top Goaltender and was named the league’s Playoff MVP after an outstanding postseason performance.

“Alex has earned every bit of this opportunity,” said Eagles General Manager and Head Coach Andrew Milne. “His commitment to improving the details in his approach, his professionalism, and his ability to rise to the moment in the biggest moments made him one of the best goaltenders in Junior A hockey. We’re incredibly proud to see him join one of the most respected programs in college hockey, and we know he’ll represent both the Eagles and our community to the highest standards.”

Since arriving in Canmore, Scheiwiller developed into one of the premier netminders in the AJHL, combining elite athleticism with exceptional competitiveness and leadership among his peers. His calm presence in the crease gave the Eagles confidence every night and established him as one of the league’s most dependable performers.

“I’m extremely grateful to everyone who helped me reach this point,” said Scheiwiller. “My coaches, teammates, family, billets, and the entire Canmore Eagles organization have all played a huge role in my development. I’m thankful for everything the Eagles and this community has done for me, and I’m excited for the opportunity to continue my career at the University of North Dakota.”

The entire Canmore Eagles organization congratulates Alex and his family on this tremendous accomplishment and wishes him continued success as he begins the next chapter of his hockey career with the North Dakota Fighting Hawks.
