OKOTOKS, AB (April 16, 2021) – Former Okotoks Oiler forward Dylan Holloway (Bragg Creek, AB) has signed his three-year, entry level contract with the NHL’s Edmonton Oilers, it was announced today.
Selected 14th overall in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft, Holloway will become the fourth former Okotoks Oiler to play in the NHL, after Corban Knight, who debuted for the Calgary Flames in 2013, Rhett Gardner, who debuted last season for the Dallas Stars, and Jacob Bernard-Docker, who made his debut with the Ottawa Senators just this week.
The 19-year old most recently completed his second season at the University of Wisconsin, where his 35 points (11 goals, 24 assists) in 23 games ranked fifth in all of college hockey, earning him a top 10 finalist spot for the annual Hobey Baker Award.
He also won a silver medal for Team Canada at the 2021 World Junior Championship in Edmonton, scoring a goal and an assist in six games.
With Okotoks, Holloway set a franchise record for career points-per-game (1.39), scoring 115 points (51 goals, 64 assists) in 83 games. In his final season in 2018-19, he was named CJHL Player of the Year, while winning the AJHL’s Most Valuable Player award, and being named to its South All-League Team, as he recorded 88 points (40 goals, 48 assists) in 53 games, ranking second in the league in points and goals.
He was an AJHL South All-Rookie selection in 2017-18, a year in which the Oilers won a South Division championship, while Holloway also won a gold medal with Team Canada West at the World Junior A Challenge.
