Bandits Forward Dario Beljo Commits to AIC

BROOKS, AB (February 27, 2022) – The Brooks Bandits of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) are thrilled to announce forward Dario Beljo has committed to attend and play for American International College (AIC), becoming the 15th Bandit committed to an NCAA Division I school this season.

Beljo, 19, is in his second year with the Bandits, scoring 57 points (28g, 29a) in 58 games. He’s sixth in team scoring, and 11th in AJHL goal scoring. His 18 powerplay goals is third most in the AJHL.

“Dario is deserving of this opportunity at AIC. His game has evolved over the last two seasons and his impact is felt on a nightly basis,” said Bandits Head Coach and GM, Ryan Papaioannou.

“He’s a contributor to the top unity of our power play along with being a key face off guy that our players look to for possession. He’s a heart on his sleeve type person and the fit with Eric Lang and his staff at AIC is fantastic. We’re all happy for Dario and look forward to his first taste of AJHL Playoff hockey and his contribution to our program next season in a leadership role before joining AIC.”

The 6-foot-3, 190lb forward from Sudbury, ON, was recruited to Brooks from the Komoka Kings of the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League (GOJHL).

The AIC Yellow Jackets are located in Springfield, MA, and compete in the Atlantic Hockey NCAA Division I Conference under Head Coach Eric Lang.
