Bobcats Upset Golden Hawks, Advance to RBC Cup

LLOYDMINSTER, Alta./Sask. – Ryan Chynoweth scored his first two goals of the tournament at the most opportune time, sending the Lloydminster Bobcats to the championship game at the 2016 RBC Cup with a 6-2 semifinal win Saturday over the Trenton Golden Hawks.

The host Bobcats will face either the Brooks Bandits or West Kelowna Warriors in the final on Sunday (4 p.m. MT, live on TSN 3/4/5). The Bandits and Warriors play their semifinal later Saturday.

Lloydminster is the second consecutive host team to reach the championship game (the Portage Terriers won the national title last year), and just the ninth team since 1990 to finish fourth in the preliminary round and win its semifinal.

Noah Bauld, Nick Quillan, Christian Lloyd and Kris Spriggs had the other goals for the Bobcats, who also became the first team to ever have their first regulation-time win at the tournament be the semifinal.
