Canalta Hotels Player of the Week & AB Ford Dealers AJHL Defensive Player of the Week

Spruce Grove Saints forward Chris Van Os-Shaw is the Canalta Hotels AJHL Player of the Week.  Chris was rewarded as the Viterra Star of the Game in both games played during the week of January 8th-14th, and recorded 6 points (2G, 4A). 

Van Os-Shaw scored a goal and an assist in a 3-2 win against the Canmore Eagles to earn the Viterra Star of the Game award on Friday night.  The 20 year-old forward added a goal and 3 assists in a 6-2 win over the Grande Prairie Storm on Saturday night, and picked up his 10th Viterra AJHL Star of the Game award.

Chris Van Os-Shaw, 20, leads the Saints in scoring and is second overall in the AJHL Scoring Race with 59 points (34G, 25A.  He is averaging 1.4 points per game.   Chris is committed to the University of Alaska-Anchorage (NCAA Division I).

Van Os-Shaw and the Saints are tied with the Fort McMurray Oil Barons for 1st place in the Viterra AJHL North Division and are 8-2-0 in the last 10 games. 

Brooks Bandits defenceman Dennis Cesana is Alberta Ford Dealers AJHL Defensive Player of the Week with 9 points in 3 games.   Cesana is 3rd overall in the AJHL Scoring Race and leads the Bandits with 53 points (10G, 43A).

Dennis Cesana recorded 3 assists on Tuesday, January 9th as the Bandits skated past the Olds Grizzlys 8-3.  He amassed a career high 5-point game with a goal and 4 assists in a 10-1 win over the Grizzlys on Friday.  The Bandits took a 3-2 win from the Kodiaks on Saturday night with Cesana recording another assist.

This is Dennis Cesana’s third AJHL weekly award following a selection as the Alberta Ford Dealers AJHL Defensive Player of the Week in September 2017 and the Canalta Hotels AJHL Player of the Week in October 2017.

The 19 year-old defenceman has already surpassed his point total from last season (52 pts) and is averaging 1.2 points per game.  Cesana is committed to Michigan State of the NCAA Division I.

Brooks is 9-1-0 in their last 10 games and sit 2nd in the Viterra South Division Standings behind the Okotoks Oilers.
