The Canalta Hotels AJHL Player of the Week is Drumheller Dragons forward Jacob Schofield. During the week of February 15th – 21st, Jacob scored 4 goals and 2 assists in 3 games played, including a hat trick.
Schofield was awarded the Viterra AJHL Star of the Game Award on February 19th versus the Olds Grizzlys when he scored a hat trick and tallied 4 points. He was awarded the honour for a second consecutive game on February 21st in an OT win over the Grande Prairie Storm.
Jacob Schofield is third in team scoring with 43 points (18G, 25A) and has surpassed his point total from last season (41 points). The Assistant Captain from Yellowknife, NWT recently announced his commitment to Grant MacEwan University for the 2016-2017 season.
The Drumheller Dragons have just 4 regular season games remaining and sit 5th in the Viterra AJHL South Division standings.
For the second time this season, Sherwood Park Crusaders goaltender Zac Klassen has been selected as the Alberta Ford Dealers AJHL Goalie of the Week. Klassen won three consecutive games for the Cru last week and posted a 1.65 GAA. Klassen allowed just 5 goals in 101 shots over the three games. Klassen is 20-8-1 through the regular season
The 18 year-old from Sherwood Park, AB was twice awarded as the Viterra AJHL Star of the Game last week with victories over the Lloydminster Bobcats and Spruce Grove Saints. Klassen has received the recognition 6 times this season.
The Crusaders have locked up 5th place in the Viterra AJHL North Division standings with 4 games remaining. The Crusaders are 7-3-0 in their last 10 games, including a current 3 game win streak.
