CANUCKS NAME RYAN RARICK AS GENERAL MANAGER

Ryan Rarick Named General Manager, Mat Robinson Returns as Assistant Coach

The Calgary Canucks are proud to announce two substantial leadership commitments as the club builds on its national championship momentum: Ryan Rarick has been named General Manager, and Mat Robinson will return behind the bench as Assistant Coach for the 2025–26 season.

Both leaders were instrumental in engineering one of the most remarkable two-year runs in franchise history, culminating in winning the 2025 national championship Centennial Cup on home ice, finishing third at the 2024 Centennial Cup Championship and back-to-back AJHL Championships. These appointments mark a bold continuation of the Canucks’ mission to remain a dominant force in the CJHL and Junior A hockey.

“Ryan’s vision, discipline, and relentless drive to elevate our program have shaped the culture of excellence we now live by,” said Canucks President and Chairman Sandy Edmonstone. “He’s a proven winner—with one Centennial Cup national title, two AJHL Championships, and four Heritage Junior Hockey League Championships to his name. He’s earned this opportunity to lead our organization into its next era as General Manager.”

Equally pivotal to the Canucks’ rise the past two seasons has been Mat Robinson, whose return as Assistant Coach signals strength, stability, and continuity behind the bench.

“Mat’s leadership, experience, and strategic approach to the game were critical to our national championship journey,” added Edmonstone. “With a nine-year career in the KHL—including All-Star selections and a Gagarin Cup championship win with CSKA Moscow—alongside representing Team Canada at both the 2018 PyeongChang and 2022 Beijing Olympics, he brings a world-class, championship mindset. He has the complete respect of our players, staff, and community, and we’re fortunate to have him back.”

As part of the organization’s long-term leadership strategy, the club will begin a search for a new Head Coach. During the interim, Ryan Rarick and Mat Robinson will collaborate closely to prepare for the upcoming season, ensuring a seamless transition and a high-performance environment from day one.

The Calgary Canucks extend sincere gratitude to our loyal fans, dedicated partners, and the entire Calgary hockey community. With your support, we’ve rewritten history—and the best is still to come.
