Casey Knight has committed to the University of Toronto to play for the Varsity Blues next season. Casey played most of his junior career with the Lloydminster Bobcats where he amassed 19 goals and 36 assists for 55 points in 150 games. He also registered 232 penalty minutes in his three seasons finishing off as Captain of the Bobcats. Casey was acquired by the Saints at the January deadline and promptly suffered an injury that sidelined him until playoffs, he then helped push the Saints to the AJHL Gas Drive Cup Championship Series.
“It is something I have been working hard for all season and I am glad it came to fruition,” says Knight. “The Varsity Blues are a competitive team and U of T is a very well respected post secondary institute. I would like to thank the Spruce Grove Saints organization, my fellow teammates, my mother and father and the rest of my family for supporting me over my junior career.”
“Casey is a very honest, and hardworking player,” says Saints Head Coach and GM Jason McKee. “Casey was brought in at the trade deadline to add depth to our forwards and our leadership group which was beneficial during the 2013 playoff run.”
