“I’m excited to just get started and I’m ready for the new challenge,” said Costantino. “I knew the Tigers were the right program the moment they approached me and showed interest, Halifax is already a really cool place to live and I’m really excited to start my next chapter playing hockey there.
“When it comes to my style of play, fans can expect someone that can do anything and can play anywhere on the ice.”
Joining the Pontiacs earlier this season after a trade with the Lloydminster Bobcats, the 2005-born Costantino has since contributed 18 goals and 18 assists for 36 points in 48 games with Bonnyville.
“Being a Pontiac has helped me be a better player along with being a better person”, said Costantino. With only one game remaining, Costantino noted the team is still going to give it all they have on Friday and finish strong.
Prior to joining the Pontiacs, the 6’4” St. Albert, AB native spent last year in the United States with the Elmira Aviators of the NAHL before coming back to Canada to help make a playoff push with the Lloydminster Bobcats. Costantino finished the year with 25 points in 25 games with the Bobcats – as well two goals and four assists for six points in just four playoff games.
While the Pontiacs ultimately failed to make the playoffs this year, players like Constantino continue to push themselves until the very end. That work ethic has paid off today with his commitment to the Tigers.
“I would like to thank my family, parents, grandparents and all of my coaches along the way leading up to this moment,” said Costantino.
The Dalhousie Tigers play in the AUS conference of USport and are based in Halifax, NS, Canada and will play in the brand-new Oulton-Stanish Centre that is currently undergoing construction.
The Pontiacs would like to thank Ben for his time in Bonnyville and will be cheering him on when he suits up for his first taste of college hockey with the Tigers.
