WOLVERINES CAPTURE 2025-26 REGULAR SEASON TITLE AND TOP TEAM GOALTENDERS AWARD

The Whitecourt Wolverines are the 2025-26 Alberta Junior Hockey League Regular Season Champions and winners of the Dave Duchak Trophy. This marks the second league title for the franchise with the first coming in the 2023-24 regular season. The Dave Duchak Trophy honours the first Commissioner of the Alberta Junior Hockey League.

The Wolverines held the best overall record in the Canalta Hotels AJHL Standings at 39-13-1-2 and 81 points; ranking the team first in the Bunge AJHL North Division for a third consecutive season. Whitecourt was 20-7-1-2 versus their divisional rivals and 19-6-0-0 versus the Bunge AJHL South Division.

The Wolverines led the AJHL in multiple categories including most wins (39), fewest losses (13), most goals for (219), fewest goal against (144) and best powerplay (26.7%).

Members of the Whitecourt Wolverines are finalists for seven 2025-26 AJHL League Awards, including Jalen Bianchet (Top Forward / League MVP), Elliott Pratt (Top Goaltender), Quentin Bourne (Outstanding Defenceman), Tristan Slywka (Rookie of the Year) and Shawn Martin (Coach of the Year).

The Wolverines are led by two-time AJHL Coach of the Year Shawn Martin who first joined the organization as an Assistant Coach in 2017-18 before taking over as General Manager & Head Coach in 2019-20. The Wolverines have won both regular season titles under Martin.

Whitecourt Wolverines goaltenders Elliott Pratt and Preston Lewis are the recipients of the AJHL Top Team Goaltenders Award, which is presented annually to the goaltenders of the team with the lowest goals against average (GAA) in the regular season. This is the third consecutive Top Team Goaltenders Award for the Whitecourt Wolverines.

The Wolverines allowed 144 goals against with a 2.62 GAA in the 2025-26 regular season. Elliott Pratt (2005) led the way with a record of 26-7-1-2 and a league leading five shutouts. Pratt held the best goals against average in the AJHL at 2.32 GAA and the third best save percentage at .916%. Preston Lewis (2006) was acquired by the Wolverines in January and sits in the top eight of the AJHL for both GAA and SV%.

The Whitecourt Wolverines will hold the top-seed throughout the 2026 Inter Pipeline Cup AJHL Playoffs, which open on Friday, March 20th versus the Fort McMurray Oil Barons. The AJHL playoffs will see the top four teams in each division battle for the title of Division Champion.  The Bunge AJHL South Division Champion and Bunge AJHL North Division Champion will then compete in the 2026 Inter Pipeline Cup AJHL Final.  Each series will be a best-of-seven with the highest placed seed playing the lowest placed seed in the division.
