Maybe, just maybe, it’s the start of something.
Sure, it was only a friendly. Just a Sunday in late-August.
But, even with nothing officially on the line, the Calgary Mustangs and the Calgary Canucks had happily pounded the daylights out of each other. A few taffy-pulls. Some bad blood. A number of choice words.
Which may be an indication that this cross-town grudge has finally rebooted its bite.
No one has to wait long to find out if the spice is genuine.
The Alberta Junior Hockey League’s regular season opens Friday . . . with the Mustangs visiting the Canucks, 7 p.m. at Max Bell Centre.
