DEKOWNY, PERRY AND LUTIC SELECTED AS AJHL WEEKLY AWARD WINNERS

Canmore Eagles forward Rhett Dekowny is the Canalta Hotels AJHL Player of the Week with a league leading six points (3G, 3A) in two wins from January 6th-12th, 2025.

Dekowny (2004) recorded a season-high four-point game with a goal and three assists on January 11th to defeat the Lloydminster Bobcats 6-2 in a road win. The next day versus the Devon Xtreme, Rhett scored two goals including his fourth game winning goal of the season and earned the Viterra AJHL Player of the Game award in another 6-2 road victory.

Rhett Dekowny is tied for second in the AJHL Scoring Race with 38 points (17G, 21A).  The third-year Eagle has already tied his point total from the 2023-24 season.

Newly acquired teammate Will Lutic is the Inter Pipeline AJHL Rookie of the Week after recording four points (3G, 1A) in his first three games as an Eagle.  The 17-year-old forward led all rookies in points through the week.

Lutic (St Albert, AB) scored the game winning goal in Lloydminster on January 11th and recorded another three points (2G, 1A) on January 12th in Devon.

Dekowny, Lutic and the Eagles are first overall in the Viterra AJHL South Division with a record of 23-9-4-1 (W-L-OTL-SOL).

The Alberta Ford Dealers AJHL Defensive Player of the Week is 2007-born goaltender Hudson Perry of the Drayton Valley Thunder.  Perry (Brandon Wheat Kings) posted a 3-0 record and 1.33 GAA in three road wins.

Perry made 35 saves on January 7th in Olds to defeat the Grizzlys 3-2 in overtime.  On January 11th, he allowed just one goal against to record a 3-1 win against the Bonnyville Pontiacs, then closed the weekend with a 3-1 win and 41 save performance in Lloydminster versus the Bobcats.  Perry was awarded as the Viterra AJHL Player of the Game in Lloydminster with just one goal against for a second consecutive game.

Perry has a 4-1 record and .934 save percentage after joining the Thunder from the Western Hockey League (WHL) at the start of December.  The Drayon Valley Thunder have won four of their five games played since returning from the Holiday Break.
