The Blackfalds Bulldogs are proud to announce the commitment of Edward Moskowitz to play NCAA Division I hockey at College of the Holy Cross.
Moskowitz, 20, has been with the Bulldogs since the beginning of the 2023-24 season. Acquired from the OJHL’s Wellington Dukes in June, Moskowitz has started his first AJHL season with 10 goals and 35 points in 22 games. Last year, Moskowitz posted 71 points in 53 games with Wellington, before going point-per-game through 14 playoff games. The Don Mills Flyers product says that it feels amazing to have achieved what was a personal goal of his coming into the season.
“My hard work to prepare myself for a good season has paid off. I have been working to get to this point for a few years now and for it to come to fruition is a great feeling,” said Moskowitz.
Moskowitz came into this season having played in three different junior ‘A’ hockey leagues, totaling 62 goals and 151 points in 136 games during his time in junior. His high rate of production so far this season currently gives him the best points-per-game average in the AJHL.
“Eddie has proven he is one of the best players in this league and has been a major part of our success so far this season,” said Bulldogs Director of Hockey Operations Al Parada. “(Holy Cross) is getting a highly skilled player with a great work ethic and character.”
Moskowitz has played predominantly on one of two forward lines for the Bulldogs this year, and whether it’s playing with Brendan Ross and Layne Loomer or Hunter Brown and Alexander Dimitriadis, Moskowitz says his teammates have had a huge impact on his game.
“My line mates have been a huge part of the season’s successful start. They have all made my transition into this league and team simple for me as they have allowed me to play my game and have shown confidence in me as a hockey player,” said Moskowitz. “We have been switching up lines a bit over the past few months but I am fortunate enough to have been paired with these great guys as they are all incredible hockey players.”
Parada went on to say that Moskowitz’s potential to play NCAA division one hockey has been clear since the outset of his Bulldogs career, and his commitment on and off the ice since his arrival has helped elevate his game.
“I think Eddie realized the importance of conditioning when he got to Blackfalds and has worked hard since being here,” said Parada. “That has made a huge difference in the speed he plays at and will carry him into the next level to be successful as well.”
Bulldogs Head Coach Doug Quinn added that Moskowitz’s game rising to the speed of the AJHL has made him a better player, and that “Holy Cross is getting a skilled forward who can really shoot and handle the puck. He is very strong in the corners and is excellent on the powerplay.”
Moskowitz went on to thank his family for supporting his career, and his teammates and coaches for pushing him to become the player he is today, saying; “(My coaches) make me excited to come to the rink each day. They’ve believed in my abilities since being here which has allowed me to feel confident on the ice and play my best game.”
