The Sherwood Park Crusaders are proud to announce goaltender Erick Roest’s (’04) commitment to Cornell University (NCAA Div I).
“I would like to thank Adam, Brennan, Kurtis, and Ryan for all the help they have provided me during this exciting process,” Roest commented on his commitment. “I am pumped to officially be a part of the Big Red!”
“We’re extremely proud of Erick,” stated Crusaders general manager Adam Sergerie. “He’s the standard for what we expect of our players. His work ethic, preparation, and execution daily are second to none. Erick makes the people around him better because of how committed he is to getting better everyday. But the most important thing is the quality of person he is. Erick’s an outstanding person and Cornell is very fortunate to be adding someone like him. “
The commitment marks the 12th Crusader on this year’s team to earn a post-secondary scholarship.
Roest, a native of Lethbridge, Alberta, is currently in his second season with the Crusaders following an impressive rookie season in 2022/2023. Over his past two years in Sherwood Park, Roest has compiled a record of 32-16-5, including a sparkling 13-4-0 with a .918 save percentage through 2023/2024.
Last season, Roest’s first in the AJHL, resulted in his earning a selection to Team Canada West in the World Junior A Challenge. Additionally, Roest was selected as a member of the Viterra North Division AJHL All-Rookie team General Managers and Coaches of the Alberta Junior Hockey League.
The Crusaders would like to congratulate Erick and the entire Roest family on his accomplishment.
