VERBEEK, MOLINARO AND BIANCHET RECEIVE WEEKLY AWARDS

The Pizza 73 AJHL Player of the Week is Travis Verbeek of the Whitecourt Wolverines with six goals and eight points from October 30th-November 5th, 2023.

Verbeek (2004) scored two goals and earned the Viterra AJHL Player of the Game award in a 3-1 defeat of the Grande Prairie Storm on November 1st.  He recorded a hat trick, including the game winner, and added an assist in a 5-2 win over the Drayton Valley Thunder on November 3rd.  Travis scored in a third consecutive game and picked up another assist as the Wolverines suffered an overtime loss to the Lloydminster Bobcats on November 5th.

The Flesherton, ON forward is in his second AJHL season and is currently tied for second in team scoring with 16 points (7G, 9A).

Teammate, Jalen Bianchet, is the Inter Pipeline AJHL Rookie of the Week with four points (2G, 2A) and a game winning goal through the week.

Bianchet opened the week with a powerplay goal, which was the game winner, on November 1st versus Grande Prairie, then added his second goal of the week in a win over Drayton Valley on November 3rd.   Bianchet (Pickering, ON) recorded his fourth assist and eleventh point of the season in a 6-5 overtime loss to Lloydminster on November 5th to extend his point streak to four games.

The 2005-born Wolverines forward is tied for fifth in team scoring and tenth among AJHL rookies with 11 points (7G, 4A) in 18 games, and leads his team with four powerplay goals.  Bianchet and the Wolverines are 5-4-1 (W-L-OTL) in their last ten games.

Calgary Canucks goaltender Julian Molinaro is the Alberta Ford Dealers AJHL Defensive Player of the Week after posting a 2-0 record and a shutout.

Molinaro allowed just one goal against and earned the Viterra AJHL Player of the Game award in a 2-1 shootout victory in Camrose on November 2nd.   The Mississauga, ON goalie recorded his second shutout of the season in a 5-0 win over the Spruce Grove Saints on November 5th and was again awarded as the Viterra AJHL Player of the Game. 

Julian Molinaro (2003) is tied for third among AJHL goaltenders with a .923 save percentage in his first AJHL season and has a record of 9-4-1 (W-L-OTL).  The Calgary Canucks are tied for fourth in the Canalta AJHL Standings and are 5-5-0 in their last ten games.
