First OT Game at WCC Goes to Bandits on Pilling’s Winner

Shane Pilling's goal at 12:56 of overtime clinched a 2-1 win for the Brooks Bandits over the Yorkton Terriers Tuesday afternoon at the Western Canada Cup.

OFFICIAL BOXSCORE

Brooks led 1-0 for almost the entire contest after RJ Reed opened the scoring just over four minutes into the first. It wasn't until there were under five minutes to go that Nathan Murray tied the game for Yorkton.

It looked like the Bandits had won it earlier in overtime when Chris Muscoby's dump in eluded Terriers netminder Dawson MacAuley but the goal was waved off as a Brooks player was offside when the puck went it.

MacAuley wound up with 40 saves while Michael Fredrick kicked out 34 saves to earn the win.

Brooks (2-1) next plays Wednesday at 7 p.m. against the Steinbach Pistons (0-2).

Yorkton (2-1) hits the ice again Thursday at 2 p.m. when they face the Surrey Eagles (1-1).
