Pontiacs forward Myles Gauld has committed to MacEwan University as of March 10th, 2025.
“The Pontiacs organization sends congratulations to Myles on committing to MacEwan for the 2025 season and beyond,” said Pontiacs associate general manager Chad Nelson. “He is going to a program on the rise with the Griffins. Zack Dailey and the MacEwan staff have valued what Myles bring to a hockey team right from the get go.”
“We thank Myles for his time here and wish him the best as a Griffin next season.”
At 20 years old, Myles Gauld is in his final Junior A eligible season.
“MacEwan is the right fit for me because they value hard work and are dedicated to building a competitive program,” said Myles Gauld. “They are trying to get better every year and I think it will be a great opportunity. I am extremely excited for the competition next year as well as the independence that comes with heading off to university.”
“Griffins fans can expect a 200 foot player who can play in all situations. Someone who gives their all every shift and can score some goals. The mentality that I try to uphold on and off the ice is that gratitude is just as important as strength and everything happens for a reason.”
The 2004 born AJHL veteran has produced 49 goals and 63 assists for 112 points in his 141 games played in his AJHL career. During his time as a Pontiac, Gauld has tallied 28 goals and 33 assists for 61 points in 62 games. That is just shy of a point per game average.
“Myles has been a fierce competitor and a leader since joining the Pontiacs last season,” said Chad Nelson. “He is a player that touches all aspects of the game from special teams, face-offs, net front and puck retrieval to being creative offensively and making players around him better.”
While there has been adversity with the team this year and we rapidly approach the end of the season, players like Gauld refuse to let up and continue to push themselves to be better everyday. That will to never quit has paid off today with his commitment.
“Myles has faced a lot of adversity in his junior career,” said fellow Pontiacs associate general manager Neil Langridge. “Through the ups and downs, one thing that has always remained constant is the way he carries himself day in and day out.”
“He has a pro mentality which is contagious for the players around him. We were fortunate to have Myles finish his junior career with us and we know he will do great things at MacEwan University. Myles is a true 200 foot player that can contribute all over the ice and I look forward to him showcasing his ability at the USport level next season.”
The Calgary native Gauld currently leads all active Pontiacs in goals as the final two games of his tremendous Junior career approach.
“The Pontiacs organization has been great,” said Myles Gauld. “They value leadership and have provided me with the resources to better myself everyday on and off the ice. The Pontiacs have made coming to the rink everyday a privilege and I am proud that I will always be a Pontiac.”
The MacEwan Griffins play in the CW East of USports and are based in Edmonton, AB.
