Jette Commits to Lakehead University

The Sherwood Park Crusaders are pleased to announce that forward Tyler Jette (1998) has committed to the Lakehead University Thunderwolves for the 2019-20 season.

Lakehead University, located in Thunder Bay, Ontario, is a CIS program that finished with a 12-15-2 record last season. The Thunderwolves are coached by Andrew Wilkins who is heading into his second year as head coach with the University.

?We?re extremely happy for Tyler (Jette) to be going to Lakehead University,? said General Manager, Kyle Chase. ?Tyler was nothing but a model citizen during his time with us in Sherwood Park. Again, we?re delighted to see him move on and advance his hockey career.?

Jette, 21, joined the Crusaders in December 2017 and was named the captain for the 2018/19 in his second year with the team. The Farmington, Minnesota, native dressed in 66 games for the Crusaders scoring 40 points (9 goals, 31 assists) over that time. Jette was also a significant contributor during the 2019 postseason run to the North Division Finals scoring 8 points (1 goal, 7 assists) in 12 games.

?He?s a guy that was committed to our program for two years, and he came in became our captain and a great leader for us,? said Chase. ?We?re just so happy for him and his family?.

Jette is the twelfth Crusader to earn a post-secondary scholarship this season, joining Jack Hamly (University of Alberta-Augustana), Brayden Hyland (MacEwan University), Brandon Wallis (Concordia University), Carter Gylander (Colgate University), Will Zapernick (University of Alabama-Huntsville), Garrett Clegg (Robert Morris University), Zach Kaiser (University of Massachusetts Lowell) Brett Wieschorster (University of Vermont), Reid Irwin, Carter Savoie, and Michael Benning (University of Denver).
