Kaiser Commits to UMass Lowell River Hawks

The Sherwood Park Crusaders are proud to announce that 1998-born forward Zach Kaiser has committed to the University of Massachusetts-Lowell River Hawks for the 2019-20 season.

The University of Massachusetts-Lowell, located in Lowell, Massachusetts, is an NCAA Division I that play in the Hockey East conference. The River Hawks are coached by Norm Bazin who has been with the university since the 2011-12 season.

“As an organization, we’re extremely proud that Zach’s committed,” said General Manager Kyle Chase. “They (UMass) are getting a quality person; Zach just puts his head down and goes to work. Everything he’s done this year has been impressive, especially considering the injuries throughout the year. He’s stuck with it, and we’re happy for both him and his family. We’re incredibly proud of both his play and his perseverance. It makes even more special.”

Kaiser was acquired from the Lloydminster Bobcats on January 10th at the AJHL trade deadline and had an immediate imapct on the roster, becoming a point per game player for the Crusaders with 19 points in as many games. The Orangeville, Ontario, native, has continued to be one of the Crusaders top performers throughout their playoff run with his six points (3 goals, 3 assists) in eight games as they head into game five of their North Division Final series versus the Spruce Grove Saints.

Kaiser is the eighth Crusader to earn an NCAA Division I scholarship during the 2018/2019 season, joining Carter Gylander (Colgate University), Will Zapernick (University of Alabama-Huntsville), Garrett Clegg (Robert Morris University), Brett Wieschorster (University of Vermont), Reid Irwin, Carter Savoie, and Michael Benning (University of Denver).

The Crusaders wish to congratulate Zach and his family on this outstanding achievement and his numerous contributions to the organization, both on and off the ice.
