LAMOTHE, FULLER AND PETERS AJHL WEEKLY AWARD WINNERS

Olivier Lamothe of the Fort McMurray Oil Barons is the Pizza 73 AJHL Player of the Week for the final week of the 2033-23 regular season.  The 2003 forward scored five goals and recorded eight points with goals in four consecutive games to wrap up the season.

Lamothe (Sherbrooke, QC) opened the scoring for the Oil Barons on February 28th in a 4-3 loss to the Lloydminster Bobcats.  On March 1st, Olivier scored the first two goals of the game for Fort McMurray in 4-3 shootout loss to the division leading Spruce Grove Saints.  He was awarded as the Viterra AJHL Star of the Game for his performance.

The Oil Barons picked up their final win of the season on March 4th versus the Whitecourt Wolverines.  Lamothe scored his third game winning goal and added an assist in the 6-3 victory.  The season concluded on March 5th with a 5-4 overtime loss to the Wolverines and a three-point game for Olivier with a goal and two assists.  Olivier Lamothe finished third in team scoring with 39 points (19G, 20A) in 54 games played during his first AJHL campaign.

The Oil Barons will meet the Sherwood Park Crusaders in Round One of the 2023 Inter Pipeline AJHL Playoffs.

The Alberta Ford Dealers AJHL Defensive Player of the Week is Drumheller Dragons goaltender Garrett Fuller.  With three wins from February 28th – March 5th, Fuller and the Dragons locked up third place in the Viterra AJHL South Division to enter the 2023 Inter Pipeline AJHL Playoffs.

Garrett Fuller (2002) posted a 3-0 record with a 1.67 GAA and .947 save percentage in the final weekend of play.  The week began with a 4-1 win over the Calgary Canucks after Fuller stopped 29 of 30 shots.  He followed up with a 5-1 win on March 3rd versus the Okotoks Oilers, stopping 33 of 34 shots on goal and earning the Viterra AJHL Star of the Game award.  On March 4th, the Dragons solidified their position in the standings with a 5-3 victory over Okotoks and a 27-save performance by the third-year Dragon goaltender.

Garrett Fuller (Airdrie, AB) held a 22-14-3 (W-L-OTL) record in the regular season.  The Drumheller Dragons and Canmore Eagles will battle in the opening round of the 2023 Inter Pipeline AJHL Playoffs.

Forward Ayden Peters of the Grande Prairie Storm is the Inter Pipeline AJHL Rookie of the Week after scoring six goals and seven points in three games.

Peters (2004) recorded his second AJHL hat trick and a season-high four-point game on February 28th to earn the Viterra AJHL Star of the Game in a 5-3 win against the Whitecourt Wolverines.  The Storm and Wolverines are now set to be first round opponents in the 2023 Inter Pipeline AJHL Playoffs.

On March 4th, the Storm rookie scored two goals to help lift Grande Prairie to a 6-5 shootout win versus the Lloydminster Bobcats.  The Calgary, AB forward scored his final goal of the season on March 5th in a 5-3 win over the Bobcats.  Peters finished the season with 37 points (18G, 19A) in 51 games, #12 among AJHL rookies.
