Madill Commits to Dalhousie

Drayton Valley Thunder’s  Luke Madill, has recently committed to attending Dalhousie University in Halifax, NS, and will be furthering his hockey career as a member of the Dalhousie Tigers Men's Hockey Team, under the direction of Head Coach Chris Donnelly. Luke has been admitted into the Bachelor of Commerce Program in the faculty of Business Management at Dalhousie University.

Luke recently completed his 20 year-old season as the Captain of the Drayton Valley Thunder in the Alberta Junior Hockey League. A four-year veteran of the league, Luke played 225 regular season games in the AJHL, recording 16 goals, 55 assists and 285 penalty minutes. Luke started his career as a shut-down defenceman, but steadily progressed to the point where he was used in all situations, and was looked upon as a dependable and always-reliable leader on his team.

This year, in addition to being named Team Captain, Luke was awarded his team's Top Defenceman, Most Dedicated Player, and the Heart and Soul Award as a member of the Drayton Valley Thunder. Luke served as an Assistant Captain of the Drayton Valley Thunder during the 2011/12 season. In the summer of 2012, Luke played against Sweden's top U-17 and U-18 teams as a player with TeamCanada West in the Swedish International Tournament, in Sweden, where he skated alongside many of the top players from the AJHL and the BCHL. Luke was one of three AJHL players to have the honour of being selected to play in the 2011 CJHL Prospects Games during his draft-eligible year. That year, Luke also earned the top defenceman award in 2010-2011 with the Drayton Valley Thunder. Luke was the Scholastic Player of Year with the Olds Grizzlys in 2009-2010, before being acquired by the Drayton Valley Thunder in the 2010/11 season

The Drayton Valley Thunder would like to congratulate both Luke and his family on this monumental achievement and wish him the best!
