McAllister, Willick and Aucoin Earn AJHL Weekly Player Awards

Brooks Bandits forward Ryan McAllister is the Pizza 73 AJHL Player of the Week for a second consecutive week.  

McAllister (London, ON) recorded ten points (5G, 5A) over three Bandit victories from January 31st-February 6th, 2022.    The 20 year-old began the week with his third hat trick of the season and a five-point game on February 1st in a 6-2 win over the Canmore Eagles.   The Bandits shutout the Calgary Canucks by a 9-0 score on February 4th with McAllister picking up two assists in his record setting campaign.    On February 5th, the Bandits won their 24th consecutive home game in a 5-0 shutout of the Okotoks Oilers and a three-point (1G, 2A) night for McAllister.

The Western Michigan University commit became the first Bandit to register 100 points in a season and leads the AJHL in points (115) and assists (75).   McAllister has set the team record for most points in a single season and most assists in a single season.

McAllister was recently awarded as the  Alberta Ford Dealers AJHL Player of the Month  for January 2022.   He was previously honoured as the  Pizza 73 AJHL Player of the Week  for January 24th-30th, and October 11th-17th, 2021.  

The Bandits (45-5-1) have clinched first overall in the  Viterra AJHL South Division  and will receive a bye through the first round of the 2022 Playoffs.

The Alberta Ford Dealers AJHL Defensive Player of the Week is Drumheller Dragons rookie Tanner Willick.   The 18 year-old defenceman had seven points (2G, 5A) in three consecutive wins for the Dragons and has compiled a five-game point streak.

Willick (Saskatoon, SK) scored the opening goal on February 1st then added an assist as the Dragons defeated the Calgary Canucks 3-1.   Tanner scored his first AJHL game winning goal, in a season-high three-point game, on February 4th as Drumheller came back from a 4-0 first period deficit with five unanswered goals to record a 5-4 victory over the Camrose Kodiaks.   The week concluded in a 5-2 win over the Blackfalds Bulldogs and two assists for Willick, bringing his season total to 24 assists and 32 points.

Drumheller is second in the  Viterra AJHL South Division  standings with a record of 29-14-8 and nine games remaining.

Lloydminster Bobcats forward Ethan Aucoin is the Inter Pipeline AJHL Rookie of the Week with a seven-point (3G, 4A) performance and two Viterra AJHL Star of the Game awards in three victories for the Bobcats.

Aucoin (Calgary, AB) scored a goal and an assist on February 2nd as the Bobcats outscored the Whitecourt Wolverines 4-1.     On February 4th, Aucoin opened the scoring and posted a three-point game (1G, 2A) to earn the Viterra AJHL Star of the Game award and a 4-2 win over the Canmore Eagles.   A 4-3 win against the Olds Grizzlys concluded the weekend on February 5th and extended Aucoin’s goal scoring streak to four games when he recorded a goal and an assist for the Bobcats.   Ethan received his 12th Viterra AJHL Star of the Game award in the victory.

Aucoin, 19, leads the Bobcats in scoring with 55 points (30G, 25A), placing him in the Top 15 of the AJHL Scoring Race and third amongst rookies.  

Lloydminster is 7-2-1 in the last ten games and sit fifth in the Viterra AJHL North Division  standings with eight games to play in the 2021-22 regular season.
