MEERMAN, ONYSKIW AND TARDIF SELECTED FOR AJHL WEEKLY AWARDS

Blackfalds Bulldogs Captain Brett Meerman is the Pizza 73 AJHL Player of the Week.   The Augustana University (NCAA) commit recorded six points (2G, 4A) in two wins for his hometown Bulldogs.

Meerman (2002) scored two goals, including his fifth game winning goal of the season, and two assists to defeat the Calgary Canucks 6-3 on February 3rd and earned the Viterra AJHL Star of the Game award.  On February 4th, the Bulldog forward celebrated his birthday with two assists in a 5-1 win over the Canucks to extend his active point streak to five games (12 points).

Brett Meerman is third in the AJHL Scoring Race with 73 points (26G, 47A).  Blackfalds is third in the Viterra AJHL South Division with 10 regular season games remaining.

Goaltender Zac Onyskiw is the Alberta Ford Dealers AJHL Defensive Player of the Week with a 2-0 record for the Spruce Grove Saints and two Viterra AJHL Star of the Game awards.

Onyskiw (Edmonton, AB) allowed just a single goal in a 3-1 final over the Lloydminster Bobcats on January 31st with 22 saves.  On February 3rd he held off the Whitecourt Wolverines with 32 saves and posted another 3-1 win.

Zac Onyskiw (2004) has recorded wins in his last five games played.  In his second season as a Saint, he is 11-2-0-1 with a 2.32 GAA.  The Saints are first in the Viterra AJHL North Division with eleven games to be played in the regular season.

 The Inter Pipeline AJHL Rookie of the Week is Ludovik Tardif of the Bonnyville Pontiacs.  The 2004-born forward led all rookies with four points (3G, 1A) from January 30th – February 5th, 2023.

Tardif (Quebec City, QC) opened a double header versus the Lloydminster Bobcats with a goal in a 4-3 victory on February 2nd.  The following night, he recorded his third three-point game of the season with two goals and an assist as the Pontiacs took the game 7-2.

Ludovik has 21 points (9G, 12A) in 24 games played during his first AJHL season.  Bonnyville is third in the Viterra AJHL North Division with eleven games remaining prior to the 2023 AJHL Playoffs.
