FORT McMURRAY, AB – The Fort McMurray Oil Barons, in partnership with the Fort McKay Hockey Society and Fort McKay First Nation, are delighted to announce that the team will visit the community of Fort McKay on Tuesday afternoon (October 21) for the first time in franchise history.
All events will take place at the Fort McKay Community Arena.
The team will hold its practice at 1:45 PM with the event open to the community. At 3:30 PM, the Barons will hold an autograph session in the arena lobby. Members of the Oil Barons coaching staff will also be assisting the Fort McKay Hockey Academy on the ice at that time.
The visit is part of the Barons’ continuing effort to reach out to communities in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo outside of the Fort McMurray Urban Service Area. Last month, the team held a well-attended practice and community skate in Anzac at the newly constructed Anzac Recreation Centre, and has plans to hold further off-site practices open to the community in the coming months.
A media invitation with detailed directions for Tuesday’s event will follow later on Monday; media who cannot attend but would like photos or other multimedia can utilize the media contact at the end of this release.
The Oil Barons’ next home game is on Halloween Night when the MOB hosts the archrival Spruce Grove Saints at 8 PM at the Casman Centre. Tickets are available at the Casman Centre box office, online at tickets.oilbarons.com, or by phone at 780 743 5509.
