PENDY NAMED CJHL 1ST STAR OF THE MONTH FOR NOVEMBER

CJHL announces its 3 Stars of the Month for November – Fuelled by Gatorade

TORONTO, ON – The Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL) announced Thursday that Maxwell Pendy, (F) Bonnyville Pontiacs (AJHL); Austin Dubinsky, (G) Niverville Nighthawks (MJHL) and Nolan Newton, (F) Greater Sudbury Cubs (NOJHL) have been named its 3 Stars of the Month – Fuelled by Gatorade, for November.

1st Star: Maxwell Pendy, (F) Bonnyville Pontiacs (AJHL) – The NCAA Division I commitment to Princeton University (ECAC) topped all AJHL skaters in offensive production last month with 25 points in 10 contests on seven goals and 18 assists.

The 19-year-old forward from Far Hills, N.J., supplied eight multi-point efforts in the time frame and was only held off the game sheet once. Pendy also notched a pair of game-winning markers while twice being selected as the Canalta Hotels AJHL Player of the Week.

Pendy presently paces his league in scoring with 50 points, through 27 games, with his 33 assists also leading the AJHL. He has also had 15 multi-point performances on the campaign.

2nd Star:  – Austin Dubinsky, (G) Niverville Nighthawks (MJHL) – A solid November saw the netminder of the No. 1 CJHL-ranked Nighthawks go unbeaten.

Hailing from Ardrossan, Alta., the 20-year-old netminder went 6-0-0-0 for Niverville while registering a sharp 1.33 goals-against average, along with an equally stingy .952 save percentage and posting one shutout. In all, Dubinsky only allowed eight pucks to get past him in 360 minutes of action, in stopping 159 of the 167 shots fired his way.

Dubinsky currently leads all MJHL goalkeepers in wins (18) and sits third overall in his league in GAA (2.02) and second in SV% (.938).

3rd Star: Nolan Newton, (F) Greater Sudbury Cubs (NOJHL) – Leading all NOJHL players in scoring in November, the 19-year-old Newton piled up 25 points in just nine outings for the Cubs.

The French River, Ont., product scored nine times, including notching a pair of hat tricks and a game-winner for first place Greater Sudbury, while dishing out 16 assists, where he aided on a trio of deciding tallies.

Entering play Thursday, Newton leads Greater Sudbury offensively and sits third overall in the NOJHL with 51 points in 25 contests. He also paces the league in power play markers and extra-man points with 10 and 24 respectively while sharing first in game-winning goals at five. Also, dating back to last season, Newton has only been held pointless on four occasions in his past 51 games, while racking up 33 multi-point efforts in that span for the two-time defending NOJHL champions.
