Player of the Week Honours Awarded to Tamburro, Bookman and Yuhas

The Pizza 73 AJHL Player of the Week is Bonnyville Pontiacs forward Sebastian Tamburro.   The 19 year-old was awarded as the Viterra AJHL Star of the Game in all three games played during the week of November 8th-14th and recorded seven points (3G, 4A).

Sebastian contributed two assists is a 6-4 win over the Drayton Valley Thunder on November 9th to end a three-game losing streak.   On November 12th, the Pontiacs fell 4-2 to the Blackfalds Bulldogs with Tamburro having a hand in both Pontiac goals adding a goal and an assist.     The Pontiacs fought the Drumheller Dragons to a narrow 6-5 defeat on November 13th.   Tamburro scored twice in 44 seconds to tie the game before losing in overtime.

Tamburro (Toronto, ON) leads the Pontiacs in scoring with 24 points (10G, 14A) and sits in the Top 20 of the AJHL Scoring Race.

Zach Bookman of the Brooks Bandits is the Alberta Ford Dealers AJHL Defensive Player of the Week after scoring seven points (2G, 5A) through three games and extending his point streak to 12 games and 25 points.   Bookman was awarded the honour of Inter Pipeline AJHL Rookie of the Week just last week following an eight-point performance.

Defenceman Zach Bookman scored a goal and two assists on November 10th as Brooks defeated the Olds Grizzlys 8-1.    On November 12th, the 19 year-old added two assists on powerplay goals in a 5-1 victory over the Drayton Valley Thunder.   Bookman opened the scoring for the Bandits on November 13th versus the Spruce Grove Saints and recorded his 31st assist of the season in a 5-4 shootout loss.   The loss snapped the team’s 19-game winning streak, however the team remains without a regulation loss in 20 games.

The Merrimack College commit leads all AJHL defencemen and rookies with 41 points (10G, 31A) and is third overall in the AJHL scoring race.   Bookman is averaging 1.9 points per game in the regular season.

The Inter Pipeline AJHL Rookie of the Week is Drumheller Dragons forward Vann Yuhas.   With seven points (2G, 5A) in four games, the 17 year-old is now tied for the team lead in scoring with 17 points.  

Yuhas (Medicine Hat, AB) and the Dragons lost a tight contest 4-3 to the Fort McMurray Oil Barons on November 12th.   Yuhas picked up his first of five assists over the week in the loss.   On November 13th, Vann recorded three assists, including an assist on the OT winner, as the Dragons stole a 6-5 victory in Bonnyville.   Drumheller concluded their three-game road trip North with a 4-3 win over the Lloydminster Bobcats.   Yuhas added an assist on the opening goal for the Dragons and scored a powerplay goal to extend his point streak to four games.
