Pomeroy Commits to Niagara University

The Drayton Valley Thunder are pleased to announce that 19-year-old defenceman Jesse Pomeroy (Prince George, BC) has committed to attend and play for the Niagara University Purple Eagles. Jesse has been a major contributor to Thunder the past two seasons, amassing 24 points in 83 games and playing a steady defensive game.

Pomeroy split time between the Sherwood Park Crusaders and Whitecourt Wolverines before joining the Drayton Valley Thunder last season. He played minor hockey for the Cariboo Cougars and was a part of their leadership group.

“Jesse has been nothing but a fantastic teammate and a true pleasure to work with. The entire coaching staff has seen the hard work and dedication that Jesse has put in. This is just a great opportunity for him moving forward to take his game to the next level,”stated Thunder General Manager / Head Coach Eric Thurston.

Pomeroy is the first Thunder player to commit to an NCAA Division I program this season and will join the Niagara University Purple Eagles in New York for the 2020/2021 season.
