Prince George wins Doyle Cup over Brooks in Game 6

PRINCE GEORGE, B.C.  ? The Prince George Spruce Kings captured the 2019 Doyle Cup on Saturday night, downing the visiting Brooks Bandits 4-2 in the decisive sixth game of the series.

With the series concluded, the two teams now look ahead to the 2019 National Junior A Championship, beginning next Saturday in Brooks.

Brooks held two leads in the game but fell after a three-goal third period from the BCHL champions.

Tyler Campbell (Winnipeg, MB) dangled into the slot and fired a wrist shot past goalie Logan Neaton to give Brooks its first lead just 3:25 into the game, before Prince George tied it on a Lucas Vanroboys rebound goal just after a great Pierce Charleson (Aurora, ON) save on a Corey Cunningham breakaway.

In the second, Mack Hancock (Kingston, ON) fired home a shot on an odd-man rush to give Brooks a 2-1 lead through forty minutes.

But Prince George outshot the Bandits 11-4 in the third and reclaimed the lead. First, Ben Brar tapped in a backdoor feed at 9:55, before Chong Min Lee scored an almost identical goal at 15:17 off the rush for the game winner. With 20 seconds left, Patrick Cozzi fired the puck all the way down the ice from his own end and into an empty Bandit net to seal the 4-2 final
