ROSS, PATTERSON AND SAWYER NAMED WEEKLY AWARD WINNERS

Alberta Junior Hockey League leading scorer, Brendan Ross, is the Pizza 73 AJHL Player of the Week with an eight-point (5G, 3A) performance for the Blackfalds Bulldogs from November 27th– December 3rd, 2023.

Brendan Ross (Calgary, AB) scored two goals and an assist, including his fourth game winner of the season, on November 28th in a 4-2 win versus the Whitecourt Wolverines.  The 2003-born forward also recorded his league-leading 12th powerplay goal of the season in the victory.  On December 2nd, Ross scored goal number 26 of the year to help Blackfalds defeat the Drayton Valley Thunder 4-2.

Brendan extended his active point streak to four games and 11 points with his third four-point (2G, 2A) game of the season on December 3rd.  A 6-3 victory in a battle with the Sherwood Park Crusaders moved the Bulldogs into a tie with the Cru for second place in the Canalta Hotels AJHL Standings.  The Bulldogs are winners of their last five games.

Ross is in his third season with the Bulldogs, has committed to the University of Alaska Fairbanks (NCAA), and leads the AJHL with 50 points (28G, 22A).

 The Alberta Ford Dealers AJHL Defensive Player of the Week is teammate Carter Patterson who extended a five-game point streak with six points (2G, 4A) in three wins for the Bulldogs.

Patterson (2003) had three consecutive two-point games last week, starting with a goal and an assist on November 28th at home versus Whitecourt.  The Eagle Builders Centre was also the stage for the next two games where Carter scored the game winning goal and added an assist on December 2nd against Drayton Valley and added two assists in the notable win over Sherwood Park on December 3rd.   Patterson was awarded as the Viterra AJHL Player of the Game on December 2nd.

Carter Patterson (Burlington, ON) led all defencemen with six points last week and is tied for fifth among AJHL defencemen with 26 points (7G, 19A) in his second season with the Bulldogs.  Patterson and the Bulldogs defensive group have allowed the fourth fewest goals against in the AJHL (92).

Logan Sawyer of the Brooks Bandits is the Inter Pipeline AJHL Rookie of the Week for a third consecutive week after recording four points (2G, 2A) and his fourth game winning goal of the season.                    

On November 29th, the Calgary Canucks hosted the Brooks Bandits in the first-ever AJHL game at Siksika Nation.  Logan Sawyer (Calgary, AB) recorded an assist in the 6-1 win for the Bandits.  The 2006-born forward finished November on a nine-game point streak with six goals and 14 assists in the month.

On December 2nd, the Providence College (NCAA) commit scored the game winner and added an insurance goal along with an assist as the Bandits played to a 7-4 win over the visiting Spruce Grove Saints.  Sawyer was awarded as the Viterra AJHL Player of the Game. 

Logan Sawyer leads all AJHL rookies and is third in AJHL scoring with 42 points (18G, 24A).  The Bandits have compiled a 13-game win streak and sit first in the Canalta Hotels AJHL Standings at 28-3-0.
