The Grande Prairie Storm are proud to announce the addition of Taylor Makin as the new Assistant Coach.
Makin played for the Brooks Bandits during 2012-2013 winning a national championship. Most recently he was playing professional hockey in the SPHL, when he received a phone call stating there was an open position for Assistant Coach with the Storm.
“I am very grateful for the opportunity to come to Grande Prairie and work with Ryan and Mark. I look forward to learning from both of them. I plan to implement the valuable experiences I accomplished from my playing career and transition them into the type of coach I want to be. I have played on some very good hockey teams where we had a lot of success and being a part of those winning cultures is something I want to bring to the Storm. We have a young group of hard working/skilled athletes that I am excited to work with!”
Mark Bomersback, General Manager of the Storm stated, ?Taylor is a young guy that?s eager to join the coaching ranks and can relate to the players as he has just finished up his professional career. He has played for some successful coaches over the years and won a national championship, we believe that along with his playing experience/championship mentality that he will be an enormous asset to the team. When Aasman and I talked about who we wanted to bring in to fill this position Taylor was at the top of our list, and it sealed the deal after talking to his former coaches and teammates. A constant that I have heard of Taylor is that he is and has always been a student of the game, it?s something that just comes naturally to him. We look forward to welcoming Taylor to the Grande Prairie Storm organization and continually working together to develop our players on and off the ice.?
Taylor will get his first taste of the AJHL action behind the bench this Friday at home vs the Drumheller Dragons ? 7:30PM puck drop.
