Three AJHL players and 15 Canadian Junior Hockey League players have been identified in the NHL Central Scouting Mid-Term Rankings released today. Congratulations to AJHL forwards Patrick Quenneville (Sherwood Park Crusaders), Rhett Holland (Okotoks Oilers) and goaltender Matt Tomkins (Sherwood Park Crusaders).
The NHL Mid-Term Central Scouting Rankings include players from the following CJHL Leagues:
- British Columbia Hockey League: 7 players
- Alberta Junior Hockey League: 2 skaters, 1 goaltender
- Central Canada Hockey League: 2 players
- Ontario Junior Hockey League: 3 players
One AJHL player and seven players from the Canadian Junior Hockey League were selected in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft in Minnesota. Kyle Turris of the BCHL’s Burnaby Express was selected 3rd overall in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft by the Phoenix Coyotes and remains the highest ever selection from the CJHL. Joe Colborne of the Camrose Kodiaks is the highest drafted AJHL player in League history as the 16th overall selection of the Boston Bruins in 2008.
NHL Central Scouting will release its final rankings in April 2012. The 2012 NHL Entry Draft will take place on June 22 at Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh.
