The Drayton Valley Thunder are pleased to announce that goalie Brett Zarowny has committed to play for the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) in the Fall of 2016. He will be joining Thunder Alumni Dallen Hall going into his second year with the Ooks, Jordan Abt who is going into his third year with the Ooks, and Brayden Harris along with Troy Rapuano who have also secured a ACAC commitment for this up-coming season.
Zarowny, a 20-year-old from Edmonton, AB, spent two seasons with the Prince George Cougars of the Western Hockey League with a .885 in 31 games followed by two seasons with the Spruce Grove Saints of the AJHL with a .927 SVS% in 12 games. Last season Zarowny played 11 games with the Drayton Valley Thunder with a .874 SVS% and a 4.52 GAA. Zarowny will be a great asset to the Ooks between the pipes. He was an anchor in net for us and is deserving of this commitment.
Zarowny made his commitment known on Twitter stating, “Extremely excited to be joining @NAITMensHockey this fall. I can't wait to get things started. #ooks”
We are thrilled that he will be able to carry on with both his hockey and education at NAIT taking General Studies and playing for the NAIT Ooks.
The entire Thunder organization would like to wish Brett the best in his future hockey and academic endeavors.
