AJHL Mourns Passing of Bob Clark

The Alberta Junior Hockey League is saddened by the passing of Bob Clark ? a renowned politician, life-long community leader and past AJHL Chairman.

“Bob was a great contributor and ambassador for the AJHL for many years,” said AJHL Chairman Greg Wood. “As Chairman he helped guide us into an exciting era in League history. We are saddened by his passing and his presence will be sorely missed.”

Clark was the General Manager of the Olds Grizzlys from 1987-1995 and President from 1996-1999.  The team captured three Alberta Junior Hockey League championships and the Centennial Cup in 1994 under his reign.  He then served as Chairman of the Alberta Junior Hockey League from 1998-2007.  Bob also held the position of Hockey Alberta?s Junior A Committee chair, was a special advisor to the AJHL, and a director with the Friends of Alberta Junior Hockey Scholarship Program.

Bob, a resident of Carstairs, was involved in hockey in Alberta for more than half a century, displaying a passion for growing and improving the game for athletes and administrators. Clark was a 2020 inductee in the Alberta Hockey Hall of Fame.

?On behalf of the Alberta Junior Hockey League, I offer my sincere condolences to Mr. Clark?s family and friends,? said AJHL Commissioner Ryan Bartoshyk.

?Mr. Clark’s contribution to the AJHL is everlasting; I will personally miss our conversations at the arena; his guidance, insight and knowledge of both the game and life provided a lasting impression.?

The Clark family has chosen the Friends of Alberta Junior Hockey Society as one of the organizations that donations in his memory can be made to.  Those wishing to make a donation can mail a cheque to PO Box 1294, Carstairs, AB T0M 0N0.
