Jordan Taupert, 19, was selected as the Viterra Star of the Game in all three contests last week. On September 19th, Jordan recorded his first AJHL hat trick with a 5-point game and scored the game winning goal in a 5-1 victory over Canmore. On September 22nd, the Dragons defeated Spruce Grove 4-2 with Taupert scoring a goal and an assist in the winning effort. He closed the week with 2 goals in a 6-5 overtime loss to the Brooks Bandits.
The four-year AJHL veteran from Medicine Hat, AB is in a tight cluster at the top of the AJHL scoring race with 10 points in his first 5 games (6 goals, 4 assists).
The Alberta Ford Dealers AJHL Defensive Player of the Week is Brooks Bandits defenceman Dennis Cesana. The second-year Bandits blueliner and team captain notched 2 goals and 6 points in two games last week.
Dennis Cesana (Providence, RI) put together a 4-point game (1 goal, 3 assists) on September 22nd as the Bandits defeated the Mustangs 9-2. Cesana was recognized as the Viterra Star of the Game the following night with a goal and an assist in a 6-5 OT win over the Drumheller Dragons.
The 19-year-old commit to Michigan State University (NCAA Division I) was the second highest scoring defenceman in the AJHL last season with 52 points (12 goals, 40 assists) in 59 games played.
