Canalta Hotels Player of the Week & Alberta Ford Defensive Player of the Week

The Canalta Hotels AJHL Player of the Week is Canmore Eagles Alternate Captain Logan Ferguson.  In three games played during the week of February 20th – 26th, Ferguson scored 4 goals and 6 assists for 10 points.  The 19 year-old forward extended his current point streak to 11 games.

Ferguson began the week with 2 goals and 2 assists in a loss to the Calgary Canucks on Monday, before defeating the Calgary Mustangs with 2 goals and 3 assists on Friday.  Logan scored the game winning goal in Friday night’s game and also picked up the Viterra AJHL Star of the Game Award.  The week ended with a win over the Olds Grizzlys on Saturday in which Ferguson assisted on the game winner.

Logan Ferguson (Calgary, AB) is second overall in the AJHL Scoring Race with 91 points (32G, 59A) and 1.6 points per game.   The third year veteran was recently named a finalist for the 2016-2017 Don McNabb Memorial Trophy, awarded annually to the Most Dedicated Player in the Alberta Junior Hockey League.  Ferguson has committed to the Holy Cross Crusaders of the NCAA Division I.

The Canmore Eagles are 4th in the Viterra AJHL South Division with two games remaining and have clinched home ice advantage.

Calgary Canucks goaltender Logan Drackett is the Alberta Ford Dealers AJHL Defensive Player of the Week.    Drackett turned away 120 shots in three games versus the South Division’s top teams and posted a 2-1-0 record with a 2.33 GAA.  Drackett is a three-time recipient of the Alberta Ford Dealers AJHL Defensive Player of the Week Award in 2016-2017.

On Monday, Drackett posted a win over the Eagles in a Family Day match up in Canmore.  He suffered a defeat by the league leading Brooks Bandits on Friday night, but bounced back with a 3-1 victory over the Bandits on Saturday.

The 19 year-old is a finalist for the 2016-2017 AJHL Most Valuable Player Award and the AJHL Top Goaltender Award.  Drackett is among the Top 5 AJHL Goaltenders with a 2.41 GAA and .917 save percentage.  He has also recorded the third most shutouts (5), second most wins (28), and the second most minutes played (2,669).

The Canucks have two regular season games remaining and are 2nd in the Viterra AJHL South Division.  They have clinched home ice advantage for the 2017 Gas Drive AJHL Playoffs.
