Canalta Hotels Player of the Week & Alberta Ford Defensive Player of the Week

Camrose Kodiaks forward, Bryson Traptow, is the Canalta Hotels AJHL Player of the Week for the week of November 21st – 27th, 2016.  In three games played, Traptow scored 3 goals and 4 assists for 7 points.  Traptow has extended his point streak to 6 games and is currently second overall in the AJHL Scoring Race. 

On Thursday night, Traptow received the Viterra AJHL Player of the Game Award with 4 points (1G, 3A) and added an assist on the game winning goal in a 4-3 overtime win versus the Olds Grizzlys.  Traptow, 19, received the award for a second consecutive night in a 4-3 shootout win over Olds when he scored 2 goals plus a shootout goal.

Bryson Traptow (Calagry, AB) leads the Kodiaks in scoring with 39 points (18G, 21A) and has recorded 16 points in 9 games since joining Camrose following a trade from Whitecourt at the start of November.  Traptow has committed to (RIT) Rochester Institute of Technology of the NCAA Division I Atlantic Hockey Association.

Brooks Bandits goaltender, Mitchel Benson, is the Alberta Ford Dealers AJHL Defensive Player of the Week.  Benson recorded 2 wins, including one shutout, in two consecutive wins for the Bandits.  He now leads all AJHL Goaltenders with a 1.82 GAA.

The 19 year-old stopped 47 of 49 shots in games versus South Division opponents and has picked up a win in his last 5 games.  Benson has not recorded a regulation loss in his last 10 games.  On Friday night, Benson posted a 3-0 shutout win over the Canmore Eagles.  He followed it up on Saturday with a 3-2 overtime win against Okotoks and was awarded as the Viterra AJHL Star of the Game.

Mitchell Benson (Windsor, ON) has a record of 9-1-1 with a 1.82 GAA and .932 SV% (2nd overall in AJHL). 

The Bandits are tied for first place in the Viterra AHL South Division Standings with a record of 19-3-3 and 41 points.  Brooks is 9-0-1 in the last 10 games.
