Canalta Hotels Player of the Week & Alberta Ford Defensive Player of the Week

The first Canalta Hotels AJHL Player of the Week for 2017 is Oliver Chau of the Brooks Bandits.  From December 30th – January 8th, Chau scored 8 points (3G, 5A) in 3 games, and recorded his first AJHL hat trick.

Chau closed out 2016 as the Viterra AJHL Star of the Game on December 31st in a 4 point game (3G, 1A) and a win over the Olds Grizzlys.  Chau added 4 assists, including an assist on both game winning goals, in consecutive victories over Olds on January 6th and the Canmore Eagles on January 7th.

Oliver Chau, 19, has committed to Massachusetts (NCAA Division I).  He is second in team scoring with 49 points (23G / 26A) and 5th overall in the AJHL Scoring Race.   Chau leads the AJHL in powerplay goals with 15.

The Brooks Bandits are riding an 8 game winning streak and sit first in the Viterra AJHL South Division Standings.

Calgary Canucks goaltender Logan Drackett has been selected as the Alberta Ford Dealers AJHL Defensive Player of the Week for the second time in the 2016-17 season.   Drackett posted a 3-0 record to start 2017 and added a shutout win to his league leading 4 shutouts.

Logan Drackett (Calgary, AB) allowed just 2 goals in three games played last week.  The victories included wins over the Calgary Canucks and Olds Grizzlys on January 5th and 7th, followed by a shutout on January 8th vs Drumheller.  Drackett has recorded eight wins in his last nine games, including 3 shutouts.  He is 4th overall among AJHL goaltenders with a 2.25GAA.

Drackett, 18, has committed to (RIT) Rochester Institute of Technology (NCAA Division I). 

The Calgary Canucks are 3rd in the Viterra AJHL South Division Standings with wins in their last 4 straight games.
