Canucks Bring AJHL Game to Cochrane

When the Calgary Canucks, of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL), expressed interest in playing a regular season game here, Cochrane Minor Hockey and P3 Sports were quick to combine forces and make it an interesting afternoon for local hockey fans.

Being held Sunday Feb. 21, the event has been proclaimed “Hockey Day in Cochrane” and not only features an AJHL regular season game, but will involve local hockey teams and feature an autograph session and after game skate with players from the Calgary Canucks, including Cochrane's Chandler Irvin (see separate story), their team captain. During the intermission, Cochrane Minor Hockey initiation teams will play mini-games. There's also a silent auction and a 50-50 draw.

“That's why we titled it 'Hockey Day in Cochrane' because we're trying to make it more than just a hockey game,” explained Ryan Hilderman, owner of P3 Sports. “It should be a fun day. Hopefully we'll see a lot of people out for it.”
