Carter Gylander Commits to Colgate University

Sherwood Park, AB – The Sherwood Park Crusaders are proud to announce '01 goaltender Carter Gylander has committed to the Colgate University Raiders (NCAA, Div I) for the 2020-21 season.

Colgate University is located in Hamilton, New York, and play in the NCAA’s Division I ECAC Hockey conference The Raiders are coached by Don Vaughan who has been with the University since the 1992-93 season.

“We’re extremely proud of Carter (Gylander) and the job he has done for us. He was an affiliate goaltender for us last season, and now that he is with us full-time he has been incredible with still plenty of upside to come,” said General Manager Kyle Chase. “We always want to provide a platform for players to get better not only in hockey but in education and the community. We are extremely proud of him (Gylander) and are looking forward to a few more years with Carter between the pipes.”

Gylander is in his first full season with the Crusaders and has proven to be a reliable netminder for the organization. In 11 career games, all with the Crusaders, the Beaumont, AB, native has an 8-1-0 record along with a 2.26 GAA and a 0.918 SV%. In his nine games, Gylander is fourth amongst rookies in wins (7), has the fourth best goals against average (2.04), and fourth highest save percentage (0.926%).

Gylander is the fifth Crusader to earn an NCAA Division I scholarship during the 2018/2019 season, joining Garrett Clegg (Robert Morris University), Brett Wieschorster (University of Vermont), Carter Savoie, and Michael Benning (University of Denver).
