The Bonnyville Pontiacs of the Alberta Junior Hockey League are seeking an energetic, outgoing person to serve as the team?s new Manager of Sales and Marketing.
The Pontiacs are one of the premiere Junior A hockey teams in Canada, boasting an immense fanbase and great local corporate and community support. We have created the right reputation and ?we are doing things right? in Bonnyville and we fully understand that ?doing it the right way is an all the time thing.? Our positive credibility in the hockey world is growing and we strive every day to reach new milestones of excellence.
On the ice the franchise is coming off back-to-back record setting seasons and we have had 65 players in the last 6 years move on to college from our program, including 9 to NCAA schools last season.
Reporting to the Board, the successful applicant will be responsible for the development, sale, and management of various advertising and sponsorship opportunities, with additional responsibilities in community relations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
?Responsibility for all team fundraising through marketing initiatives.
?Plan and implement sales, advertising and season ticket campaigns with corporate sponsors, supporters and fans.
?Create and maintain customer database
?Prepare sales, forecasting and budgeting reports for the Board of Directors
?Work together with Hockey Operations personnel to plan and implement player appearances throughout the community.
?Plan and administer team fundraising events.
?Serve as media spokesperson and prepare press releases when required
?Other related duties as required
Qualifications
?High level of motivation and ability to work independently
?Great organizational, presentation and communication skills
?Exceptional commitment to customer service
?Team player, co-operative with customers, Board, fans and staff
?Computer skills including Microsoft Office, basic graphic design
?Educational background in sports management and marketing an asset
?Previous experience in marketing, advertising sales an asset
This is a full-time, salaried plus sales commission position in the Pontiacs office at the Bonnyville Centennial Centre, requiring both standard Monday-to-Friday hours and non-standard evening and weekend hours on game days and at team events.
