OKOTOKS, AB – After finishing off his overage season as an alternate captain, Okotoks Oilers forward Ethan Jamernik (Calgary, AB) has committed to attend and play for the University of Oregon beginning next season, the team announced today.
Located in Eugene, Oregon, the Ducks will move to Division I of the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) for the first time next season.
“We’re grateful to Ethan for his contributions and impact on the team this year,” said head coach and general manager Tyler Deis. “He brought a much-needed veteran perspective to a very young team and helped to set up our future players for success. We’re extremely happy that he’ll be continuing to play at an excellent school with a growing program.”
Jamernik recorded 10 points (2 goals, 8 assists) in 33 games with the Oilers in his final year of junior hockey, adding 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist) in 5 games in the playoffs. Previously, he played two seasons for the Fort McMurray Oil Barons, totalling 92 games in his AJHL career after graduating from the Calgary Royals.
