Ferguson and Hunter Commit to RDC Kings

The Spruce Grove Saints are proud to announce that 3-year forward, Austin Hunter, has committed to play for the Red Deer College Kings (RDC).  The RDC Kings are a member of the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC). 

A three year veteran in the AJHL, Austin was a physical force on the ice.  In his career, Austin amassed 28 goals and 43 assists for 71 points and 411 PIMS in 149 games.  Austin also chipped in 8 goals and 14 assists for 22 points in 47 career playoff games.

“I’d like to thank Coach McKee and the Spruce Grove Saints organization for all their support and for helping develop my game,” mentions Austin Hunter. “It has been an amazing last three years, and I am excited to see what the future holds next year with the RDC Kings.”

“Austin is a foundation player to build your club around.  He is a tremendous leader both on and off the ice,” states Saints Coach Jason McKee.  “Austin played in all situations for us and was an integral part of the Saints success for the past three seasons.  I wish him the best of success as he moves forward to Red Deer College.”

The Spruce Grove Saints are also proud to announce that 20 year-old Scott Ferguson has committed to play for the Red Deer College Kings (RDC), and will join fellow Saint Austin Hunter for the 2016-17 season. 

A five-year veteran in the AJHL, Scott spent most of his Junior career with the Camrose Kodiaks before joining the Saints at the trade deadline this season. During his AJHL career, Scott amassed 40 goals and 38 assists for 78 points while also totalling 243 PIMS in an astounding 199 career games.

“Scott came to us at the deadline from the Camrose Kodiaks and brought an added dimension to our fore checking with his speed and tenaciousness,” states Head Coach Jason McKee.  “His transition to our club from the Kodiaks was seamless and speaks to the type of player that Scott is.  He became a regular in our line up and played in many different rolls.  Scott’s work ethic will lead him to success at the next level with Red Deer College.”

“I'd like to thank the Spruce Grove Saints and the Camrose Kodiaks organizations, for four great years of junior hockey, and for helping me get to the next level,” mentions Ferguson. “I’d like to thank my family and friends for their support, and I am excited for what the future holds at Red Deer College.”

The Saints organization would like to congratulate Scott and Austin on this step in their career, and wish them continued success moving forward both athletically and academically.
