The first Alberta Ford Dealers AJHL Player of the Month for the 2016-2017 season is Canmore Eagles Captain Matt Forchuk.
Forchuk began the regular season with a 4 point night (2PPG, 2A) in a 6-0 victory over the Calgary Mustangs. He has continued to record points in each game, and is currently on a 7 game point streak totaling 13 points. During two games at the 2016 AJHL Showcase at the end of September, Forchuk scored 2 goals and 4 points.
The 19 year-old leads the Eagles in scoring with 13 points (5G, 8A) in 7 games played, and is second in the AJHL Scoring Race. Forchuk (Okotoks, AB) also leads the league with 1.9 points per game. This is Matt Forchuk’s third season with the Canmore Eagles.
The Alberta Junior Hockey League is pleased to partner with the Alberta Ford Dealers Association and will recognize the AJHL Player of the Month throughout the regular season. The AJHL and Ford have also introduced the Alberta Ford Dealers Defensive Player of the Week Award for the 2016-2017 season.
