Franczak Commits To The University of Alabama-Huntsville

Sherwood Park, AB: The Sherwood Park Crusaders are pleased to announce that forward Jacob Franczak (2000) has committed to the University of Alabama-Huntsville Chargers (NCAA Div. 1) for the 2020-21 season.

?We are extremely proud Jacob (Franczak) and happy him and his family,? said General Manager Kyle Chase. ?He is one of the major reasons our organization has been able to take the next step. He?s got phenomenal character, he?s a great teammate and is a complete 200-foot player.?

The University of Alabama-Huntsville, located in Huntsville, Alabama, is an NCAA Division I that play in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) conference. The Chargers are coached by Michael Corbett who has been with the university since the 2013-14 season.

Franczak signed for the Crusaders in July 2016 and played 159 games over three seasons scoring 90 points (34 goals, 56 assists). Last season, the Edmonton native scored a career-high 18 goals and 43 points in 53 games. He was also named an assistant captain for the team.

Next season, Franczak will be joined by his Crusaders teammates Will Zapernick and Jarred White at the University of Alabama-Huntsville as he becomes the tenth player to earn a post-secondary commitment.

The other players with commitments are joining Max Wutzke (Hamilton College) Jacob Kendall (Red Deer College), Carter Gylander (Colgate University), Ty Mueller (University of Nebraska-Omaha), Reid Irwin, Carter Savoie, and Michael Benning (University of Denver).
