Gault, Martin and Sullivan Honoured as AJHL Weekly Player Award Winners

Caiden Gault of the Spruce Grove Saints is the Pizza 73 AJHL Player of the Week after recording nine points (4G, 5A) in three games from January 10th-16th, 2022.

Gault (Oakbank, MB) added three assists in a 4-1 victory versus the Bonnyville Pontiacs on January 12th.   The 19-year-old forward then scored his 13th powerplay goal of the season and added a second goal on January 14th as the Saints defeated the Blackfalds Bulldogs.   Gault ranks second in the AJHL for powerplay goals.   The final game of the week on January 16th resulted in a 7-2 Saints win over the Fort McMurray Oil Barons with Gault recording a four-point game (2G, 2A) and earning his sixth Viterra AJHL Star of the Game award.

In his second AJHL season with the Saints, Gault has 54 points, ranking him ninth in the AJHL Scoring Race and second in goals with 33.   Caiden was previously recognized as the Pizza 73 AJHL Player of the Week in the opening week of the 2021-22 regular season.

Teammate Tristan Martin has been selected as the Alberta Ford Dealers AJHL Defensive Player of the Week.   The goaltender from St Vincent, AB posted a perfect 3-0 record for the Saints.

Martin, 19, held the Bonnyville Pontiacs to a single goal as he turned away 30 of 31 shots from the third most offensive team in the AJHL on January 12th.   He would allow just two goals against in wins versus the Blackfalds Bulldogs and Fort McMurray Oil Barons, who sit second behind the Saints in the Viterra AJHL North Division standings.

Since joining the Saints in early December, Martin is 9-2-0, with wins in his last eight consecutive starts.

The Saints lead the Viterra AJHL North Division standings with a record of 33-7-4.

The Inter Pipeline AJHL Rookie of the Week is Ryan Sullivan of the Camrose Kodiaks with six points (3G, 3A) in two road wins last weekend.

The Calgary, AB forward opened the scoring in both games versus the Canmore Eagles on January 14th and 15th.   Sullivan added two assists and received his fourth Viterra AJHL Star of the Game award as the Kodiaks defeated Canmore 5-2 in the first game of the double header.   The following night, Ryan recorded his first two-goal game and third consecutive three-point game with two goals and an assist in an 8-2 win.

Sullivan, 19, is second in team scoring and sixth amongst all rookies with 42 points (12G, 30A).
