Jordan Roy Commits to the University of Lethbridge

Fort McMurray, AB – For the eighth time since last October, a Fort McMurray Oil Baron has committed to a post secondary institution. The Oil Barons are excited to announce that Jordan Roy has committed to attend and play for the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns of USPORTS. Roy’s commitment to the U of L begins this fall.

“Jordan’s a player that came to us at the AJHL trade deadline last year and was a physical force for us down the stretch,” said Oil Barons Head Coach and General Manager Tom Keca. “He’s also a player that spent some time in the Western Hockey League and brought some leadership and experience to our dressing room. As a coaching staff and organization, we’re very happy for Jordan and wish him all the best in Lethbridge this season.”

The 20-year-old forward and Lethbridge-native appeared in 13 regular season games with the MOB last season, recording five points (three goals, two assists) and 39 penalty minutes. He also appeared in nine playoff games and added four points (one goal, three assists), notching his lone goal in OT to give the MOB a 4-3 win over the Whitecourt Wolverines in Game 1 of the Viterra AJHL North Division semi-finals.

Roy joins Shane Fraser (NAIT, ACAC), Will Conley (Holy Cross, NCAA), Merritt Oszytko (RIT, NCAA), Eric Szudor (Alaska-Anchorage, NCAA), Coy Prevost (Windsor, USPORTS), JC Thivierge (UOIT, USPORTS) and Curtis Roach (NAIT, ACAC) as players from last year’s roster to commit to a post secondary institution for the 2018/19 season.
